Inexperienced, first time parents struggle with the transition to parenthood, and various stressors during this transition not only put the relationship of the parents in jeopardy, but also the child's emotional and physical well-being as well. The purpose of this project is to define and create a proactive program that could exist within our small community that would assist new parents in the transition to parenthood. This program is a proactive approach to help families within the community of Williams Lake. As the program moves forward, the need for such a program in our community will be assessed on an ongoing basis. Anecdotal reports from parents to be and new parents within the community will serve as a basis for the direction and focus of the program. --P. 1.
