Abstract
Informal caregivers of persons with dementia often experience significant stressors which may result in detrimental physical, psychological, social, and financial consequences. In order for primary care providers to adequately support this burgeoning group of caregivers a greater understanding of their experiences and needs is essential. This literature review seeks to determine how primary care providers can best support informal caregivers of persons with dementia through the dementia journey. Studies were included that examined the needs or experiences of informal caregivers of persons with dementia.
