Abstract |
Abstract
Voices in Thread is an arts-based inquiry that examines the overarching question What are women's lived experiences of childhood, or young adulthood, when their primary caregiver remained in a relationship with a known or alleged sex offender?' Using quilting as an art form, women creatively document their reflections of lived experiences. The stories of four women were gathered through participatory fiber-art group sessions, journaling, and individual interviews and analyzed using thematic and metaphoric analysis. The women reflect on their lived experiences, experience of participation in the group sessions, their process of creating their fiber-art, and a description of their finished fiber-art. The women's stories become captured in a collective quilt that serves as a multi-vocal visual narrative of their lived experience. This research creatively provides insight and awareness to generate meaningful discussions that can support and/or enhance social work responses, intervention strategies, and policy to, and for, children and their families. --Leaf ii. |
