Abstract
"The purpose of this study was to explore what components are required to create inclusive and supportive employment programs for people who self-identify as trans*. This research was conducted in Vancouver, B.C. (located on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples) and it analyzed current employment services within the context of self-identified trans* supports. In order to determine what elements are required to create a supportive and inclusive program this study utilized information obtained from in-depth qualitative interviews with people who self-identified as trans*, staff who worked in the employment program field, and staff who worked in organizations that offered trans* supports. The findings of this study were assessed within a queer framework and a disability management framework. Subjects that this study examined were trans* discrimination in the workplace, barriers to employment, beneficial elements of current programs, and areas for future research into trans* employment supports."--Leaf iii. |
