The Club will be hiring 3 young people to do some landscaping work at Simmons Lake for the months of July and August. The Community Club has planned to turn that area into a Trailer Park/Day camp facility as well as a place for the hikers and fishermen to enjoy. This will be a continuing project which will provide another recreation op- portunity for the towns people as well as visitors to the north. KATIMAVIK The Cassiar. Community Club has applied to Katimavik for 2 work groups to come to Cassiar. First of all, a little information on Katimavik. It is a national organization which offers youths be- tween 17 to 21 years of age a chance to see the country while gain ing valuable work experience. Selected youths will spend a total of 9 months in the project. During these 9 months, they will be living in a different region of Canada other than their own and will be moving into a different region for every 3 month period. They will spend the 3 months living and working with the local community - aS well as absorbing a different cultural and living environment. The starting date for the Katimavik project in Cassiar will be some time in October. Proposed projects for the group are cutting cross- country ski trails, ski hill upgrading, substitute teaching, arts and crafts centre renovations, co-op group aides and special event aides. SLOW-PITCH LEAGUE Due to the success of last year’s league, the Community Club is in the process of organizing the league for this year. It will end in June before tH® shutdown. Depending on the situation, it might start again in August. ROLLER SKATING Roller skating will still be offered this summer. However, due to the cut-back, the hours will be reduced. For the roller skating schedule, please consult the biweekly Community Club Calendar. CAR WASH Now that we are in the muddy (Yuch!) season, don’t be sur- prised that your vehicle has a different color other than the origin- al paint job. The car wash situated beside the Rec Centre is now opened for public use. It will be opened during the regular Rec Centre hours.
