Northwestel is warning northern businesses to watch
out for direct mail solicitations that look like invoices
for telephone directory listings or advertisements.

Individuals or businesses receiving these forms have
absolutely no obligation to send payment, the company
says.

The solicitations are not issued by Northwestel or
its authorized telephone directory publisher, Regart
Publications of Vancouver. The company issuing these
forms has no connection with Northwestel.

The solicitation form looks like an invoice and
often has a clipping of the business’ listing or ad from the
telephone directory attached to it. It offers to display
advertising ‘as per attached layout’ and lists a price
for the ad.

Northwestel or its authorized publisher do not send
out advertising solicitation forms, nor ask for payment
in advance of publication. Charges for directory adver-
tising or special listings appear‘on the customer’s monthly
telephone bill from Northwestel.

Customers who have any doubts about directory
advertising solicitations are advised to call their local
Northwestel business office.
