The Pee Wees kept their tradition up and won the tourna- ment and so did the Tots. Squirts and Bantams did not do so good but they sure tried hard. 7 TOTS DIVISION : Cassiar 3, Watson Lake 4 Cassiar 4, Watson Lake 1 Cassiar 6, Watson Lake OQ + Tots top scorer was D. Walters. BANTAM DIVISION Watson Lake3 Cassiat 3 Watson Lake™4. Cas Bantam ton scorer was F. Hudson. The hockey season is finished for-another year. We would like to say thank you te the coaches for ailtheir time and energy. Without them there would not be any hockey for our kids. This included such fairy tales and rhymes as Humpty Dumpty, Pinocchio and . ebrations. The theme for the show was Fan-. Tiggers from Winnie The Pooh. Also featur-- ed were solo skaters — Jenny Pewsey as Snow White, Sacha Millar shaking down to “Abba Dabba Honeymoon”, and Dana Con- stable, who displayed her talents to ‘The Pink Panther’. Lorraine Menzul:- Skating Pro ‘that we have a great deal of talent around town. Thank | ’ successful carnival. Special thanks to Mrs. Doreen Pewsey would like to thank her for all her work prior to her in- jury and hope she is recovering. — We were very fortunate to have Lorraine Menzul take over her duties. Lorraine came from Vancouver and did atrem- endous job preparing the girls for the carnival. Thank you, Lorraine — we hope to see you back next year! 3 The props were painted by students at the Cassiar School under the direction of Ms. Denise Tavener. The art work decorations were also the work of students. It is obvious you, all. We also have to thank the many parents who helped phon- © ing moms, organizing costumes, cutting out and sewing and generally doing the many things which help make a in Vancouver who. managed to find all the supplies we needed in one day and made sure that they were sent here in time for the Carnival. Last, but not least, we have to thank the boys and girls themselves. They skated beautifully and we hope to see them all out again next year. Even though the skating season has ended, we will contin- ue our fund-raising endeavours and look forward to the continued support of the people of Cassiar — it really is greatly appreciated. Skaters Place Well -Five members of the Blue Valley Figure Skating Club repre- sented Cassiar at the Yukon Winte 8 in Whitehorse. Although the show had only two and a half *weeks for preparation, everything seemed to come together quite nicely in the end — the children skated very well and seemed to have a lot of fun, the costumes looked lovely and the audience was very appreciative. “So, here’s to next year” quotes Lorraine Menzul, the figure skating coach, who feels she'll actually go through all that again. Lorraine Menzul, the new skating pro, accompanied the girls, providing them with good advice and encouragement. by I. The skaters, Dana Constable, Tanya Radulovic, Sacha Millar, Tamara Mulrooney and Corinne Van Acker competed with the Whiteharse and Faro Figure Skating Clubs. Dana Constabie, skating in the Juvenile Ladies, placed second. Sacha Millar and Tanya. Radulovic skated in the Pre-duveniie Ladies ant Sacha placed third.
