New Name

The Fitness Centre now has a
new name — The Athletic and
Recreation Centre. We are
now officially into athletics,
with hopes of the UNBC
basketball teams entering
their exhibition seasons in
September 1997.

Intramural Scene

Intramurals are well underway
with approximately 250
participants involved in floor
hockey and volleyball.

There is a squash ladder up on
the bulletin board (opposite
the squash courts) which is
available for anyone to sign
up and participate in. The
rules on how the ladder works
are posted and you can ask for
assistance at the Athletic and
Recreation Centre.

Valentine’s Day Event

The Valentine’s Day Event
held as part of the Winterfest
was a huge success. The
winners were Jayme
Buckmaster and Jamie Ker.
There was a large crowd on

hand to watch events such as
“co-ed bunking,” “lover’s
leap,” and drinking of “cupid’s
cocktail.” The event was open
to anyone with a partner who
wanted to participate. A
special thanks goes out to Rob
who had 2 male partners for
the event. They provided a lot
of laughs and some great
photographs.

Upcoming Events

Please keep your eyes and ears
open for the upcoming sports
trivia contests and St. Paddy’s
Day Challenge. There will be
some great prizes to win and
it promises to be a lot of fun.
While there is still time, get
your teams together and
register at the PIT.

Volunteers

We are always looking for
volunteers for our special
events, so if you have some
spare time and are looking for
a resume builder, come in and
talk to us. We would be happy
to let you help us.
Volunteering does not have to
be a bore, so come to the
Athletic and Recreation Centre
