The music took us back to the days of “Love and Romance”. The McFarlane Singers were excellent — their voices being well suited to the type of songs they were singing. Unfor- tunately, the Trio arrived only one-half an hour before the performance began but, in spite of the rush, their perform-- ance was truly professional. Listening to the artists it was easy to see why Romherg’s music was so popular during the drab harshness of the depression and war years — his music took people out of reality into the fantasy of “‘Crinoline and Lace’’. For those people new to Romberg it was a delightful intro- duction to his music and for those already familiar with his work it brought back many memories of evening spent around the radio or at the cinema.
