In the flyer announcing the birth of the Courier, we suggested clubs, groups and organizations had to PURCHASE ad- vertising to promote their events. We made a mistake! Non-profit, public-service clubs, groups and organizations DO NOT PAY FOR PUBLICIZING THEIR EVENTS, ACTIVITIES OR NOTICES! The Courier will print such publicity AS A PUBLIC SERVICE - FREE OF CHARGE, aS space permits. Businesses or individuals who pro- vide goods or services for a profit and wish to advertise in the Courier may purchase Display or Classified adver- tising. (Ed. note: The Courier tries to satisfy everyone. Knowing that many people are never satisfied - nor happy - unless they catch someone in a mis- take, we will print a few in each is- sue. ) J&W Sales OKVER Cameras Film Photo Finishing Projectors-Screens Family Portraits Frames CASSIAR COMMUNITY CLUB Christer hed ae at Ae lh be Ry RENTS 0 ST ERR Ar Re ne Nala a caer NOW (OR Cotk LoIAM AS é The Cassiar Courier Box 100 Cassiar, B.C. LIONS Convention The Cassiar Lions Club co-sponsored the District 49B Midwinter Conference with Watson Lake Lions, October 21-24 in Watson Lake, Fifteen of the District's thirty-one clubs sent representatives to the Con- ference. International Director Gerry Robbins was delayed a day when-CP Air could not land at Watson Lake. District Governor Jim Thompson from Fairbanks, Alaska, opened the Conference. The bulk of the Conference consisted of revorts from all district officers and discussions on solutions of prob- lems some of the clubs are having. While Lions were attending the meet- ings, the ladies were entertained by the Watson Lake Lioness Club. } A Grafitti Dance was held Friday ni- ght with the Lion's Club Ball held on Saturday night. The Ball began with an excellent dinner. As some of the Lions had to return home Sunday morning, the Cassiar, Faro and Watson Lake Lions took that time to get together for their second Zone meet- ing of this year. All the Lions in attendance were im- pressed with the Conference and most managed to attend all the meetings. Al- though Cassiar and Watson Lake co-spon- sored the Conference, Watson Lake did the Lions share towards its success. Cassiar Lions continue to be well kn- own throughout the District for their activity and conference attendance.
