During their recent visit to the property, Mr. J. D. Christian, President, and Mr. C. R. Elliott, Vice- ee President, presented awards to six departments in recognition of their safety records. The awards are from the B.C. Safety Council. Equipment Garage — Award of Distinction, which began March 6, 1963, and continued to May 29, 1967, giving this department 448,976 manhours. Mechanical Department — Gold Award of Merit, for working 305,816 manhours without a time loss injury. Tramline Department — Gold Award of Merit, for working 187,011 manhours without a time loss injury. This record began February 3, 1966, and is still continuing. Surface Department — Gold Award of Merit. Their record stands at 181,964 manhours, began March 2, 1965, and continuing. Regretably, we have no photograph of the Electrical Department, who won an Award of Honour for 268,800 manhours. This record commenced March 31, 1960 and the department is still accident free. Mine Department — A Gold Award of Merit for 225,999 manhours with no time loss injury. Previous to this award, the Mine Department received the Award of Distinction for 422,127 manhours.
