The evidence which Walker had gathered in the course of his detective work across half a continent was too powerful and could not be gainsaid. It was a perfect example of determined sleuthing. The watchman has not been found yet, but there is no reason to find him now. It is not only the satisfaction of solving this one case that so elates Mr. Walker but the belief that such diligence will serve to prevent similar occurences. If those who are contemplating following such a procedure they will, no doubt, hesi- tate before putting their ideas into opera- tion because the Provincial Fire Marshal's department will never take any fire, even the most insignificant blaze, for granted. “We are principally concerned with fire prevention,” Mr. Walker declares, “but we also make it our business to delve into every fire which comes to our notice —and we never miss any of them.” And that should be enough to discourage any would-be arsonists, for Walker never misses and he never quits. NINE RULES GUARD YOUR CAR AND MINE HERE is a list of suggestions for avoiding accidents: 1—Hold speed below the suggested 40- mile maximum. 2—Keep alert. Be prepared for the un- expected in congested traffic. 3—When caught in a long line of cars, be patient, don’t take risks trying to pass. 4—Never pass on a curve or when the white line is on your side of the center stripe. 5—At night, dim your lights when meeting cars. 6—When in the vicinity of recreation areas, watch for pedestrians crossing the road. 7—Don’t drive when sleepy or after over- eating. 8—Check your tires and other equipment. 9—Remember, even a minor accident may put your car out of commission for the duration.
