FRENCH, (Mafroz). 3 of Matronship in a school with such ideals and possibilities as r, owing to the splendid co-operation of the Principal and the ved such a stupendous one as it first appeared. A new Matron rst few months, of course, as one of the chief necessities to her ng of the student body, which takes a little time to acquire in ge number of students, with such a variety of dispositions and My term opened with the berry-picking season, followed by camping, school re-opening, and getting acquainted, Christmas preparations, the lecture course, Easter, Spring cleaning, exhibition and closing preparations. Not alone each month, but practically each week, has its special feature. So far as serious illness is concerned we have practically a clean sheet this year, and good work, and much of it, has been done in every department. Perhaps the most encouraging feature in the school life this year has been the splendid spirit manifested by all, and a willingness to do the task without grumbling, and a desire to do it well. This bespeaks a development not only of school spirit, but of Christian character. Some of the girls adapt themselves very creditably to Home Training, and have measured up, generally, to responsibilities given. Perhaps Rosalind Watson should be accorded first place, with Delavina Allard a close second. Alberta Jones, Edna Tait, Pearl Rudland, Lydia Young, Emily Leo, Dora Reece, and many others deserve special mention. CULINARY DEPARTMENT Miss V. Bailey Theory, 2 hours; Application 18 hours, weekly. We have come to the end of a pleasant year in this department, the girls working very faith- fully supplying the many puddings, pies and cakes, as well as the staple articles of diet demanded daily to meet the needs of so many boys and girls and staff. In the weekly cooking class the girls have been instructed in such subjects as table laying and serving, breadmaking, fruit canning, etc. (Continued on page 23) Page twenty-two
