_. REMEMBER 1 Chrisi..as is a time for happiness and enjoyment. Don’t cause sorrow and tragedy to mar these days in the form of a fire. Make Positively Sure that your electrical circuits are safe and not over-loaded; electrical wiring is not threadbare; Christmas wrappings and decorations are not too close to lights; your tree is not a dried out fire trap; your _ guests and yourselves hit the ashtrays supplied with their lighted cigarettes; you don’t leave your children unless they are being cared for by a reliable sitter; and don’t leave tree lights on when no one is at home. The CASSIAR VOLUNTEER FIRE BR IGADE wishes the residents of Cassiar and district a fire-free and HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR. ee HH The slewing are the times set for the Christmas and New Year's church services in Cassiar. _ OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC CHURCH Christmas Eve — a aeiees from 9:00 — 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve — MIDNIGHT MASS — Christmas Day — Family Mass — ; ee a.m. New Year's Day - Family Mass _ ~ 10:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. ALL SAINTS ANG: LICAN COMMUNITY CHURCH Christage Eve —11:15p.m.— Candle-Light Service 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Holy Communion Christmas Day — 11:00 a.m. — Family Service Sunday, December 28th — 9:00 a.m. — Holy Communion — 11:00 a.m. — Carol Service with the Lessons. | -., A group of youny people in Cassiar has. organized a Study Centre for Indian children in an old cabin just a few milesdown the road. This is a strictly volunteer group led by Father McAllister. Every week night for 2% hours one or two of the girls and guys are in attendance to help these children with their school work, teach them songs and games, some cooking, and generally the things that kids are interested in. The volunteers learn a lot from the children too. This group has a very worthwhile pastime and each one of the group enjoys it. Efforts such as these often go unnoticed while the | slightest bit of odd behaviour is noted almost before it is committed. ee RH We have been enjoying banana-belt weather for the past 2 months. Since about mid October there have been very few days with- out sun, the snow was a long time in coming __and still isn’t very deep, and the temperatures have been above 0 almost every day. It is much more like February than December. Now if we can just get through the rest of this month and January we will have it made. Just have to hope for an abnormal summer, too. : ee KH E Mrs. KAREN ERIKSEN and the Curling Club jointly sponsored Cassiar’s Fourth Fashion Show on November 29th. Karen had the clothes brought down from Carol's Boutique in Whitehorse. Both ladies and gents enjoyed the evening, watching the lovely models show gorgeous clothes. Now we know what the fashion scene is on the outside — Pants — A good time was had by all, and the spring show is looked for- ward to.
