Many thanks to everyone who came out and voted in this year’s election. Congratulations to all the successful candidates and to everyone who ran in the election. Throughout my time at UNBC, | have had the opportunity to be involved with many projects on campus. hosts. and organizations on campus. come a long way. that students have to affect change. providing avenues for student involvement. | strive to be as approachable and accessible as possible. and encourage you to send me an e-mail with any concerns or suggestions you have for the coming term, or to arrange a meeting. Once in office, one of the first jobs | will tackle is ensuring our mediums of communication are assessed and improved upon. There are many questions---are students best reached on Facebook? Twitter? E-mail? Face to face? | must admit that | am a novice to the world of Twitter! As much as we can improve our lines of communication, we also encourage you to seek information about the going-ons of your student government. There are some specific projects that | will be working on during my term. There has been a groundswell of activity surrounding local food | am SO impressed by everyone who is doing this work. NUGSS will continue to play an active role in ensuring the success of the University Farmer’s Market and will also look at other avenues to integrate local foods into the NUSC. NUGSS puts on great events---the annual Backyard BBQ, the Jump Back to New Year’s Party, and Winterfest, to name a few. Something we have not done much of in the past is host forums and speakers. | have many other ideas but | am interested in hearing what YOU want NUGSS to do---stay tuned for some polling and other avenues for you to provide feedback. | will work to diversify the types of events NUGSS | welcome to tackle everything, | will try my best!
