Cassiar will be represented i in the following areas: Volleyball, minor hockey, figure skating, X—Country skiing, badminton, table tennis and downhill skiing. The athletes who will be representing Cas- '.siar in the Games are asked to hand in their registration before December 11. FIRST CASSIAR GAMES Also, another exciting event which will take place in the coming year is the First’ Cassiar Games. It has been traditionally difficult for the Northern areas to compete in any competition, which generally takes place in the . South, because of the distance travelled and time lost, also the fact that monies available for this purpose from the government are scarce and the grants from the govern- ment that are available are ridiculously little when one compares them with the cost. However, so as not to deny "the communities. of the north the opportunity of the games, instead of going to the games, we bring the games here: Since this is the first year, the games will be limited to school. students only. Eventually, it will spread to the whole ‘community, as it progresses. The games are tent-° atively set in February 1982. Watch out for more news: concerning the games.
