FROM THE LIONS DEN Many activities were held by the Cassiar Lions Club this past month, one of which was an auction held under the Chairmanship of Lion Fred Smidt-Nielsen on February 1/th, together with a bake sale held by the Lioneses*® Local Lions Bonsptelars getting together Many odds and ends were auctioned off to a with visiting Lions Teams very enthusiastic crowd of youna and old ~ alike. The bake sale, as usual in Cassiar, was a bia success with a door opening rush for Hilda Voss's very popular cake! On March 3rd the Cassiar Lions Annual Carnival and Games Nite was held at the Com- munity Club and was the biagaest success ever, With a large crowd in attendance, things aot off with a bia bana - fireworks - enjoyed trerondously by all. There were games of chance of manv discriptions for youna, old and every mooa, Refreshments were available durina the evening and were served by the Parents Committee for Guiding to the merrymakina gamblers. The. biggest line-up was noticed at the fishpond where all the tots of Cassiar had their rendenzvous. “ a Then on March 17th the Cassiar Lions Lion Dave Kalles (R) from Watson Lake after held their 3rd Annual Bonspiel. a gruelling game! Two outside Lions rinks entered the Spiel, Whitehorse and Watson Lake. Competions got off to a start at 10 am and continued on until “6 pm. During the day the Snack Ear was operated by the Guides and Parents Committee for Guidina, Lion President Steve Tarasuk presented the trophies for the Ist Event to Lion Danny Demitri's rink, Joanne Michael, Linnea Baldwin’ and Lion Alfred Lehmann. ° . ~« Winners of the 2nd Event were the visiting Whitehorse Lion's team, Lion Herb Taylor, Lioness Mable Taylor, Lion Frank Kovac and Lioness Arleen Kovac, presentation for this event was given by Chairman Al Kutsche, Lion John L.
