His debut album Amen (So Be It) was recorded in eight days and reached the top 20 of the Irish charts. This was followed by a whole slew of UK awards including Best Album at the Irish World Awards. Casey could be found around the world in the fol- lowing years, touring with the likes of REM and AniDiFranco while supporting his own headlining gigs on the side. You can’t say this guy doesn’t work hard at On December 2nd Bryan Adams may never be accused of pushing the enve- lope, but that’s ok. His boy- next-door, straight-up brand of old fashioned rock and roll will never go out of style. He opened his December 2nd Multiplex show with “Back to You,” which seemed an appro- priate choice. Bryan has got- ten through that whole eye make-up, shaggy-haircut, fake British accent phase and has come back to us as the T-shirt and jeans guy that we all grew up listening to. Being around the Canadian music scene as long as he has, you’d imagine the last thing he’d really feel like doing is getting up on stage and singing “Summer of ‘69” yet again. However, it was a refreshing surprise not only to have Bryan sing all of his old standards, but sing them with a genuine enthusiasm that indicated he’d rather be no where else. And the crowd loved it - from “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started” to “Have You Ever Loved a Woman?” you could hear the audience singing along to every word. Bryan took the time to dedi- cate what is probably his most famous song - “Everything | Do | Do It For You” - to some devout fans in the front row; a newly wedded couple who have been to 45 of his shows. For “Baby When You're Gone,” a song normally sung with Mel C. of Spice Girls fame, Bryan pulled onstage a Burns Lake girl, gave her the lyrics, and let her sing the duet with him. Considering she had just been thrown onstage in front of 5000 people with Canada’s®@ best known rock star, she did a pretty good jc, and will understandably have bragging rights for the next year... The thing about a Bryan Adams concert is that it’s fun. | mean come on, who doesn’t remember dancing in a high school gym to “Heaven,” or know the lyrics to “Summer of ‘69?” Even if you’re not a fan, the ticket price is worth it if for nothing more than the nostal- gia factor.
