76 THE MOUNTAIN GOAT frequently been asserted, and positively stated in at least one book, that in the north goats do not exist beyond the easterly limits of the humid belt of the coast. This is not correct. There are numbers of them a long way to the east of the humid belt, both in British Columbia and, to a lesser extent, in the Yukon Territory. Just how far into the interior they are to be found cannot be positively stated, but I myself have seen them to the east of Teslin Lake, and have heard of them being seen farther inland still.
