The program is titled ‘‘Passport to Education” and its purpose is to acknowledge the accomplishments of B.C. students in grades 9-12 by rewarding a large number of them with ‘‘cash credits’’ which can be used in post-secondary in- stitutions. The ‘‘cash credits’’ will be awarded to the top 30% of each school’s enrollment in grades 9-12 and the value of the credits are as follows: Grade Nine $125.00 Grade Ten $175.00 Grade Eleven $225.00 Grade Twelve $275.00 Total Maximum $800.00 Please note that the credits are not retroactive. That is, students presently in grade 12 will only be eligible for the grade 12 credit of $275.00 In order to receive the money associated with the credits, students must graduate from high school, and enroll in and attend a ‘“‘bona fide’’ post- secondary institution or training program. This program does not necessarily have to be in the province of British Columbia. Furthermore, stu- dents have five years after high school graduation in which to redeem the credits. lf you have any questions about this program, please feel free to contact me at 778-7367.
