UNBC SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK "Promoting safety in our community" KICKOFF TO SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? Monday, November 18 has been designated as the day to provide you all the details about UNBC Safety Awarness Week. A special tent has been set up in the centre of the Northwood Wintergarden for this purpose. This tent will be there from 11:00 am - 2:00pm just for UNBC community members. Locate the tent and you will find further information about activities, be able to confirm workshop times and locations, be able to . speak to organizers, be able to register for workshops, and begin to enter contests and draws that will occur during the week. BEGIN TO FEEL THE EXCITEMENT AND FUN OF UNBC SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK! | Despite designated driver program advertising, laws and consequence for impaired drivers, every year we continue to hear about Motor Vehicle Accidents involving individuals between 18 and 30 years of © age where alcohol has played a significant role. These accidents result in injury, property damage and sometimes even death. And every year we also hear about the life-saving actions of people in the aftermath of motor vehicle accidents. MOCK EMERGENCY FRIDAY Nov. 22 | SAFETY LYRICS CONTEST WINNERS The winning lyrics with music will be performed in the Northwood Wintergarden between | 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm. ~ us Sometimes the hero is a bystander qualified in CPR or first aid. Sometimes the hero is someone like a Commissionaire who is able to reach the scene quickly and _sihas first aid qualifications. Sometimes the hero is a member of the Fire Department, Police department/RCMP, Search and Rescue group, or an ambulance driver. On Wednesday, November 20, 1996, at 1:00pm the Safety Awareness Week committee presents a MOCK EMERGENCY exercise just outside the mail Conference Centre door. This is an opportunity to see “heroes” in action. Do NOT be alarmed or startled by this unusual scene as you drive onto campus or leave campus. Do NOT.be alarmed by the voices of the actors. Do NOT be alarmed by unusual sounds at this exercise site. The “injured” persons are actors. Any “blood” is fake. The injuries are not real. The car crash and wreck is staged for the audience. What is real? The roles and actions of the actors performing first aid and rescue are REAL including the use of the Jaws of Life. A commentator will give you information as the MOCK EMERGENCY ‘progresses. You may take an opportunity to speak to the actors after the exercise is completed.
