January 28 featured the comedy of Larry Vazeos, the funniest man with a back problem you'll ever meet, and Dan Rock, who says some of the most truth- ful things about child abuse. The entire evening is an experi- ence worth the admission price of $29 for both the dinner and show. At 6 o’clock in the evening the . buffet is open and people line up for an assortment of salads, lasa- gnas and roast beef. The lasagna itself might actually be the best thing you’ve ever tasted. People are seated. at numer- ous round tables in The Ramada’s ballroom and for the hour during dinner everyone can converse and socialize and watch silent Charlie Chaplin films on the screen on th stage. : All this leads up to the main focus of the evening, which is the Yuk Yuks comedy tour presenta- tion. Over the Edge met with Dan Rock briefly before the show to get to know what kind of person he is. “T watch movies at an amazing pace,” Rock boasts, after asked to describe himself. He currently lives in Tacoma, Washington, with what he de- scribes is a great view of Mount Rainier, prostitutes and drug deal- ers. His picturesque home remains empty most of the year, as he trav-_ els frequently for comedy shows. “T really want to be home,” he says, elaborating that he will be on the road for nine months of the year, and will be in Canada for five months of those nine. He has been to Prince George one time prior, a time he says when George Street, where the Ramada stands, - was a livelier place. His routine on stage was a piece of finely tuned art. It’s not a cheap night out for students, but for a great dinner and show, more people should find ways to go downtown for these Sunday night events. A night of laughter in the Ramada ball- room should peak anyone’s inter- est. Events like these should be encouraged indefinitely for Prince George to host. : _ ‘The next show will be on Feb- tuary 25, and will feature Dan Quinn from Los Angeles. ‘ OVER THE EDGE _ February 9, 2007 New Wrestling Nation Makes its Debut in Prince George CONTRIBUTOR The New Wrestling Nation graced Prince George with its pre- miere on January 18. NWN has a lofty goal of taking wrestling in Canada to the next level by com- bining all of the best talent in Can- ada under one roster. The fan re- sponse seems to show the efforts are more than appreciated. The show was attended by a surprising range of wrestling fans from young to old. The wrestlers put-on a very entertaining show highlighted with a ladies match and Bubbles refereeing the final match. The ladies match saw the fans in attendance rushing towards the ring clamoring to get the best TS. WINTER * view around. It’s just too bad the comments yelled out that. match weren’t a bit more clever. The NWN show was good for any wrestling fan or any fan of oiled up men in spandex. With high flying moves and bodies be- ing smashed through tables the wrestlers really put their bodies on the line for our entertainment. Overall it was a great night out but I was just disappointed the Trailer Park Boys weren't in the ring wrestling. Maybe sometime soon Ricky and Julian will get a tag team going. Until the next time NWN is in town I have pic- tures of Bubbles in the ring star- ing at Rikishi’s well endowed rear to tide me over.
