and exploded them in succession in three
rapid shots. Then he put the revolver in
the side pocket of his coat and recklessly
firing it without drawing, much less sighting
or even showing it, he peppered a white
blaze at 20 yards. Finally he looked around
for an old fruit tin. Then he cocked the
revolver, laid it across his right hand next
the thumb and the tin across the fingers.
He then threw them both in the air with

"a jerk that sent the revolver up ten feet and

the tin 20. As the revolver came down
he seized it and shot a hole through the tin
before it could reach the ground. The boys
were simply dumbfounded . . .”

Dumbfounded? They should have been
in fox holes!

But you get my idea; the trick shooters
of fiction, like that ammunition salesman
we haven’t been able to catch up with, just
dazzle you. For me, I like my record-
holders to have a mailing address.

THE R.A.F. PASSED BY
THE Belgian Congo Courrier D’Afrique
tells the story of an irate German in the
Gare Centrale at Antwerp, who lost his
suitcase. Addressing himself to a passing
vorter, he said: “Yours is a peculiar country!
I put my bag down for a minute to buy
my ticket, and when I look round it has

gone. It is enough that a Belgian has
passed by.”
“What! Belgium a peculiar country!”

replied the porter. “Not nearly so peculiar
as Germany. Why, only a short while ago
I was in the station at Cologne. I left it
for a few minutes to go across to a cafe for
a beer. On my return, the station had
gone! It was enough that the R.A.F. had
passed by.”

HERE’S an amusing yarn from the States,
where, it seems, aeroplane plants are turn-
ing out bomber and fighter planes with a
dizzy speed. Last week it is reported they
built a plane in eight hours flat. Five min-
utes later a pilot took off in it. Six hours
later the plant received a cable from him.
It read: “I am in Australia. Please send
engine.”
