tained some new evidence to the ef-
fect that Mulvihill did not kill Kelly
but that a man named Kitselas was
the one believed to be responsible for
the killing. This new evidence was
investigated by Chief Constable E.
Gammon and Constable Munro and
was found to have no bearing on the
case whatsoever. In fact Constable
Munro had questioned this man Vol-
ka Nicolich alias Mike Kitselas at the
time of the murder but could find no
reason to detain him in connection
with the case.

ence in the penitentiary at New West-
minster.

FULL PARDON To JOIN ARMY

The hands of fate did not destine
that this man should spend the bal-
ance of his life behind prison walls.
Upon Canada’s entrance into the
First World War a great need was
felt for men of experience in rock and
tunnel work to serve overseas in the
ranks of the Canadian Engineers.
This condition became so aggravated
that inmates of prisons who had ex-
perience in this line of work were
granted a full pardon on the provi-
sion they serve their country on the
battlefields of Europe. Mulvihill, as
mentioned, was an expert rock miner

this manner. He proved to be a val-
uable soldier serving his country un-
til the cessation of hostilities.

After the war he returned to the
Portland Canal District of British
Columbia at which point he worked
for the famous Premier Mine. He
proved a good citizen and well
worthy of the pardon bestowed upon

him. He passed away at Stewart,
