You Witraispele Ancient Forest While Prince George may seem like it’s all pine trees and nothing else for miles, this fair city of ours is actually home to an Inland Ancient Rainforest. Located almost 1,000 kilometers inland, the Ancient Forest was “discovered” only a few years ago by a UNBC student named Dave Radies. There are now volunteer-built trails throughout the forest allowing curious hikers to experience the true beauty of the thousand year old cedar trees that reside there. The Ancient Forest trailhead is located 113 km east of Prince George on Highway 16 heading toward McBride. Signage is on the right. The Greenway Trail in place are called Frozen and Cold War Artifacts.
