Be sure to get your articles in on time! Over the Edge is the official independent publishing media of students at the University of Northern British Columbia. As such, it is our mandate to report on issues of interest to students in the North- ern Region. We encourage all students, both on the main and regional campuses to submit to Over the Edge. Over the Edge is part of the Canadian Uni- versity Press network of papers, otherwise known as CUP. CUP is an organization that is entirely owned by member papers, and provides such services as a news wire and advertis- ing to Over the Edge. Over the Edge is published every second week during the fall and winter semesters. Where did the time go? The only thing | care about right now is warding off the snow for at least a couple of days! Since the last time we spoke, OTE has added three new people to the team! We now have a brand new production coordinator (who put this lovely issue together using his wonderful computer skillz) named Gavin Ireland. We also have a new clubs editor, Emily Gauvin. Emily is super outgoing and generally awesome — you will probably see her checking out a few of the events happening this month. And finally, we have a newish copy editor! We had a miniature cabinet shuffle at OTE and our former production Jessica N Shapiro is now our lovely little grammar god. New Staff Members! Clubs editor Clubs Editor After years without a clubs editor, Over the Edge has finally found that special someone to fill the void. Emily Gauvin is a fourth year Nursing student who is anything but shy. Her job with Over the Edge will allow her to attend all of the awesome events held by UNBC clubs. In addition, she will also be hitting up some of your clubs meetings to see what you're really all about. You can look forward to seeing some featured clubs in the next issue of OTE as well as coverage of all the hottest events happening in and around the UNBC campus. If you would like to have your club featured in Over the Edge (it could help bring in new members) or you want to see Emily at one of your upcoming events, just email us at over-the-edge@unbc.ca and we’ll make sure she is there! Production Coordinator Hello, | am the new production coordinator at Over the Edge. | enjoy long walks on sandy beaches and apples. On a more realistic note I’m a third year political science major who just so happened to have a certificate in ani- mation and visual effects, thusly making this a great op- portunity for a young rapscallion such as myself. I’m ori- ginally from Dawson Creek, but it was small and strange so | left. | came to Prince George because UNBC is the best University this side of Oxford! My interests include history, politics, motorcycles, hair removal cream, and excessive use of exclamation marks! It may seem odd that a radical lefty such as myself is coordinating the pro- duction of a newspaper, but let us not forget that most great revolutionaries had their own newspapers! (think Pravda or Iskra). If the corporate hegemony were to collapse overnight I’d have the necessary skills to begin rabble rousing right away! But, just because we have all these new additions to the team doesn’t mean that you can’t still be a part of it too! We are always looking for submissions from students of any type. We want your articles whether you are writing about a salient news issue, a happening event in or around UNBC, or even your take on Willow Smith’s latest track. So, if you have an idea for a story we would love to hear from you! All you have to do is email over-the-edge@unbc. ca and you could be a published journalist! - Shelby Petersen
