Soundscape November 15, 1999 Stir of Echoes Various Artists Nettwerk On every shelf there is a CD that has never been opened. This will not be one of them. The soundtrack to the recently released Stir of Echoes is sure to please. In the movie, Kevin Bacon stars as Tom Witzky, a blue collar husband and father who longs for his life to be less ordinary. His young son talks to ghosts, and Tom assumes it’s imagi- nary friends until he reluctantly gets hypno- tized at a party. After a chilling vision during hypnosis, Tom also sees a ghost, but his “sixth sense” isn’t as strong as his son’s. As Tom learns more about the power and the ghost, the film takes tight turns and veers far from the path set by other movies in this genre. Most of the music on this CD has dark over- tones (this is good, because it is a dark movie). The musical scores are fairly short in length but create an intriguing blend of sus- pense and foreboding. The other songs on the CD, though few in num- ber are high in quality. Some of the artists ‘include Moist, Wild Strawberries and Dishwalla. Also includ- ed on this album is a wonderful cover of The Rolling Stones “Paint it Black” by Gob. Both Moist and Gob can be seen at the Matthew Good concert next Over The Edge Page 9 month. “Calling All StuCderits...” ST...CONTEST...CONTEST...CONTEST..CONTEST...CONTEST...CONTEST...CONTEST...CON- 4g How would you like to win: Sublime: Greatest Hits Long Beach Dub Allstars: Right Back Just completely fill out the official contest form below, and return to the Over The Edge office in the Wintergarden!
