As such, it is our mandate to report on issues of interest to students in the North- ern Region. We encourage all students, both on the main and regional campuses to submit to Over the Edge. Over the Edge is part of the Canadian Uni- versity Press network of papers, otherwise known as CUP. CUP is an organization that is entirely owned by member papers, and provides such services as a news wire and advertis- ing to Over the Edge. It’s been a huge week for UNBC! The ever awesome Shinerama went off with great success. According to NUGSS President Lindsay Gardner’s Facebook status, students at UNBC Raised over $12,400 for Cystic Fibrosis on Saturday! A more credible source than Facebook status’ I have never known so great work everybody and much love to the good people at NUGSS for organizing the event and to all the different clubs that made the event pos- sible, sensational. Speaking of clubs, the Club’s Day period of September 16" and 17" had an awesome turnout. The first semester of the school year is humming along exceptionally smoothly and it was absolutely fantastic to see such a wide array of clubs to choose from this year. » As far as Over the Edge goes we have received some awesome applications for the vacant positions we have _ here but there is still time to get your resumes/writing samples in. Anyone whose interested in the OTE positions of Clubs Editor, Photo Editor, Business Manager, and Ads manager needs to email us at over-the-edge@unbc. ca fairly quickly as we are going to start the interview process soon. We are also going to be having a super fantastic fun time Extraordinary General Meeting in the coming days so look out for signs posted, there will be free pizza so really you’d be crazy not to attend. A moment of silence for all the fantasy baseball teams that fell this week. Most leagues will be conducting their final week of the season next week so if you’re still in it congrats and good luck. For those of you who were knocked out, like myself, this week don’t yearn just ponder; because, as any true Canuck’s fan knows, there’s always next year. Plus fantasy hockey is starting up soon and you don’t want to be distracted on draft day. Any- ways enjoy this paper y’all, and good luck with the upcoming gauntlet of midterms. Message From Production Coordinator First of all I would like to express my appreciation for the editorial board and everyone who contributed to this paper for their hard work. This is my second year that I have been involved with Over the Edge. Over the Edge is going to have an EAGM (Extraordinary Annual General Meeting) during October 2009. The exact day will _ be announced soon. I strongly encourage all students to attend the EAGM. There are a few issue and concerns that need addressing. According to the current constitution, “Over the Edge” is the Student Newspaper Society and it belongs to all UNBC students. As members of this student society, you, the student body, hold the ultim- ate power in decision making for Over the Edge. Any motions passed or rejected at the EAGM may impact and increase the number of opportunities available for students from this society. Please make effort and try to participate at the EAGM. To anyone who is interested to submit articles or pictures to us. First of all I highly recommend all students clubs/ services/ department at UNBC to use this paper to approach students and spread their message or idea. You can write about your club activity, your personal idea about different issues, or your personal experience during trip to different places. You can also take a picture and submit it to us including the caption. When you submit any thing to us, please follow the format on the blow; 1- Subject of email should be ‘ ‘submission; (title of article), (name of writer)” In your Email, please mention if you have photo that can goes with your article including the name of photographer Do not save your file as MS 2007. It must be MS 2003 Try to save it as rtf format You should use only black color, do not use any other color for your text At the top of your article write the title Between the body of your article and the title, you should write your name, your personal information, and email address as you wish to be published. Example: <name of write> <personal information> like; contributor, president of..., staff writer> <email address> <body of your article> 8- If you wish to have your own picture include with your article you should send good quality and close shot from your face to us Try to get more involved with the paper that belongs to you. Thanks Message from Learning Skills Center = Student Success Learning Skills Centre The Conversational English Program is looking for English-speak- ing volunteers interested in meeting new people and learning about new cultures. Volunteers donate one hour of their time a week to meet with red and talk to an international student partner. ~~ The gola of this program is to allow non-English speakers to prac- tice everyday conversational skills.
