There are great things to be done, great plans to be fulfilled, and | believe that we are endowed as perhaps no other country in the world with the people, the land, the natural resources and the will and spirit to accomplish these great endeavours and to continue to grow as a nation in the brotherhood of the world." To the many organizations and individuals taking part in the festivities had special meanings. The Centennial Committee was extremely proud and gratified with the popular response and wishes to thank all who participated and worked so hard to make the day a success. Special thanks are due the following for their part in the Centennial parade: George Flake of the R.C.M.P. for so ably leading the parade. Kip Dougherty for his flagcarrying and general enthusiasm and willingness to work and organize. Rose Kotek (now Mrs. August Ebbinghoff) for the fine performance of the majorettes, lead by high-stepping Donna Irwin. Gene Overton and the many persons in the Cassiar Outfitters Association for their wonderful horsemanship display. A. "Kinky" Borsato for organizing the Community Club Float and the amusing Tramline entry. Doug Rushfeldt for his powerful entry and for provision of balloons, which added much to the affair. Hans and Mrs. Veltmeyer for their imagination and hard work on a clever Netherlands float. Marie Irwin and the ladies of the W.A. for the beauty of their decorating. Val Melnyk and the gals from the Smocking Club for their wonderful float and their exciting Canteen Bazaar. Gordon Edwards and the attractive Rollande Lane for combining efforts in a salute to Canada's 100th birthday. The citizens of Good Hope Lake for their imaginative decoration of an MG and for the display‘ of pulchritude which rode in it. Big Jim Durham, George Boychuk and John Elderkin for demonstrating modern mining techniques. Ralph and Ilse Hoffman and Olga Loga for their bright costumes depicting two of the ethnic groups from which Canada draws its strength. Charlie Gander for his wizardry with a staple gun and paper in concocting a beautiful big birthday cake. George Brewer and the men of the fire brigade for their sparkling entry of "Old No. 7". The many people who provided technical and manual work to plan, organize and produce the excellent entries in the parade. : Special thanks is also due to the many ladies who worked so hard to produce the goodies which were sold at the street bazaar. The money raised was for many good uses - the Centennial Arena fund, the W.A., the Smocking Club, the High School Union and the Lions Club, all benefitted from the appetite of the Cassiar citizens. STAFF TRANSFERS - Kip Dougherty has transferred to the Personnel Department, taking up the duties of Security Officer. Bob Ferguson has transferred to the Community Club as Recreation Director. The CASSIAR LIONS CLUB celebrated their fourth birthday on July 8th. Festivities included cocktails and dinner, a meeting followed by a social evening. Mr. Ray Harris was guest speaker at the meeting, followed by District Zone Chairman, Lion Van Heel. The following officers were elected and installed for the coming year: President Lion R.
