Some two year pro- grams of study can also be completed. A College Prepar- ation program is available to those students wishing to prepare for university level study on the Dawson Creek campus. A Canadian Studies Certificate is offered sub- ject to demand. ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DIPLOMA: - You can work towards this two year college diploma studying at the university course level. Both General studies and Fine Arts options are available on the Daw- son Creek and Fort St. John campuses. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: This teacher training program prepares you for elemen- entary or secondary school level teaching in co-operation with Simon Fraser University. ADULT SPECIAL EDUCATION: Programs are available on both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Campuses serving adult students who have physical, mental or learning disabilities needing classes in basic literacy, money handling skills, indep- endent living skills and vocational orientation through work experience. WELDING: Two programs are offered on the Dawson Creek campus. The Level C welding program prepares students for em- ployment in the welding trade but not as fully qualified welders. The welding upgrading program is intended to upgrade persons with welding experience to meet recog- nized test standards (Levels A and B). LIBRARY OFFICE ADMINISTRATION/BUSINESS CAREERS CERTIFICATE= Training is provided in skills and procedures needed for employment in business offices. Both beginner and ad- vanced level is offered in typing and bookkeeping. Train- ing is offered in current technologies, ie. word processing and business computers. Full programs are offered on the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John campuses. Short term programs on the Fort Nelson and Chetwynd cam- puses. COMMUNITY THEATRE CERTIFICATE (One Year): Students participate in community theatre productions. Courses include training in acting, set design and lighting movement for the stage and stage craft leading to full production. Students participate in Stage North produc- tions throughout the college region. The two year pro- gram leads to the Associate of Arts Diploma, Fine Arts (Theatre) (Fort St. John Campus). VISUAL ARTS ONE YEAR CERTIFICATE: Courses in Painting, pottery, drawing, design and art his- tory are offered on both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek campuses leading to this certificate. TRAC — TRAINING ACCESS: The TRAC program is for students entering any occup- ational training program formerly embodied in pre- apprenticeship programs. DISTANCE EDUCATION SERVICES-: Registration is conducted on all campuses, students ~ study at a distance, using mailed course packages. All courses meet the standards pre- scribed by the Community Care Licensing Board. Those wishing to obtain a Provincial Child Care Licensing Board permit must fulfill the Board’s work experience ‘requirement,in addition to obtaining a College Certif- icate. This program alternates between the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John campus. It will be conducted on the Fort St. John campus beginning in September 1983. CONTINUING EDUCATION: All campuses offer short-term courses throughout the year and may include general interest (recreation, arts, crafts, self-development), vocational, (skill training trade certificate) courses as well as Homemaker, Long Term Care Aide training, Native Indian programs and women’s programs. AGRICULTURE: A two-year Diploma program is offered on the Dawson Creek Campus. Subjects include Animal Science, Farm Management, Agronomy, Farm Buildings and Equip- ment, and Crop Science. Experience is provided at the College’s Mile Zero Farm. (Program begins in October). AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING: This twelve month program is accredited by the Ministry of Transport Canada to provide 18 months of credit to- wards the period of experience required for certification of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. (Dawson Creek Cam- pus). CAMP COOKING: This six month program prepares students to enter em- ployment as junior cooks in various camp settings (Daw- son Creek campus). ADULT BASIC EDUCATION: Several programs are available on all campuses for adult upgrading to the Grade 12 equivalency level. Certificates are offered for basic literacy and grades 8 through 12 equivalency. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are also available for English language training. GED tests are also administered at the college (Grade 12 equiv- alency). COOK TRAINING: This twelve month program prepares students to enter employment as cook (junior level) in a variety of food outlets in the Food Catering Industry, (Dawson Creek Campus). CARPENTRY APPRENTICE TRAINING: Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 training is offered on the Dawson Creek Campus. Library and audio-visual resources are available to all students. Although the bulk of materials are located in the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John collections, all College students have access to them through our computerized catalogue.
