The team's major road trip this year will be to Anchorage, Alaska during early April. The tentative schedule calls for the team to play a ser- ies of games against schools in Anchorage. In addition, the host school in Anchorage will organize a series of field trips for our players. I believe that it is impor- tant to mention, as with last years tour of the lower mainland, the team is raising most of the funds needed for this trip through their snow shovelling ef- forts in the community of Cassiar. For those of you who enjoy curling, you might be pleased to note that Mr. Basran has organiz- ed a school curling team which practices on Monday and Wednesday afternoons immediately after school. As with all our extra- mural teams, it is very difficult to get games with other schools, thus if there are individuals or teams who would like ae game against our high school curlers, SOUVENIRS GIFT IDEAS CAMERAS FILM PROCESSING RECORDS & TAPES TOOLS CARPET & LINC FURNITURE INGLIS APPLIANCE CARPET CLEANER HOT- POINT APPLIANCES please phone Mr. Mike Basran at 778-7367. Eigsit. ob will asker yOul sca question. IS LENT A TIME FOR LONG FACBS? Certainly Lent is a time for fasting, weeping, and mourning (Joel 2/12) because of our sinful condition which is rather depressing. We see the impact of this condition in our society and in our hospitals, the the handicapped, I'd. say. sick, the dying, the mentally depressed. enough is enough. We do not need more of these, we do not need to have in our company ill-humored morons. The Christian meaning of Lent to me is different. It isa time for HOPE. ‘Let us look at the word "Lent". It comes from the verb "to lend". The meaning of this verb is to offer a help- ing hand to anyone in need. We know in our Christian faith that the Lord Jesus came to save us. ‘One could see a contradiction; if God has saved us, then why bother cracked windshield etc. case the vehicle would have ta be repaired and pass an inspectican by an authearized inspectar within oO days. Again sheuld you fail to comply with this you would be sub ject ta a $500.00 fine. Let me tell you that the same Lord who saves us, also invites us to join with him in our spiritual recovery, he in- vites us to "lend" him a helping hand. "Come back to me with all your heart" (Joel 2/12) says the Lord. Lent is a time when we lend our hearts, our hands, our whole being to the process of our spiritual rehabilitation. So Lent is a time when we join hands with God who says: "ES take (no pleasure in the death of anyone. Repent and live". (EZechiel WS /Sr2s)ie Therefore Lent is a time for hope.
