shelves are getting 6limmer each year. We
don't want your money - we would appreciate
our books back. This deposit covers the

books back into the library when you leave.

Many of these books are irreplacable
and we ask for your co-operation. Children
must be signed in by parents and under no
circumstance will any books be allowed out
by non-members. Friends cannot turn in your
books and receive your refund. If the
library is not. open when you decide to leave,
phone the librarian and she will see that
you get your refund. If your books are all
in and you leave suddenly, which a few have
done previously, mail your library card in
and the refund will be sent to-you if you

Frank Newbauer and Josie Bannerman from the
British Columbia Library Commission made their
annual visit to Cassiar on September 6th, 1975.
They were quite impressed with the circulation
of books from the Cassiar Library and praised
the Librarians for the efficient way of operat-
ing the Library. aay:

As well as visiting Cassiar the Commission
also visited six other locations on the Alaska
highway and on the Stewart road -delivering new
books and collecting the old ones... Some of the {
communities are quite isolated and welcome the ;
new supply of books before the winter sets in.

teaspoon dry mustard
teaspoon oregano
teaspoon marjoram
tablespoon brown sugar
salt to taste

Rub spices well into meat.

- Sprinkle all over with a half cup of wine. Let stand
for 1 hour in a shallow pan, turning meat from time
to time so that both sides are saturated. Remove the
meat saving the remaining wine.

. Dredge meat in flour and sear in heavy cast iron fry.
When roast is browned on all sides, transfer to baking
pan and bake in a slow oven until the meat is tender
and well done, usually 2-4 hours. The time will de-
pend on texture and size of meat. A half hour before
the meat is done, add the wine mixture. This makes a

good gravy. :
Cucumber Salad

3 1 Cucumber Soy Sauce

i Vinegar Salad Oil
Peel the cucumber if you think that ‘it might be
waxed. If it's not waxed, score it length-ways with

a fork and slice it in paper-thin slices with a sharp
knife.

Sprinkle with soy sauce, oil and vinegar.
Serve chilled.

When School Bus Lights Flash

School starts again in September and many students
travel by school bus. Help. school bus drivers discharge
their important duties effectively. As a motorist, you
shoyid drive with extra caution: whenever a school bus
is hear and remember your responsibility when approaching
or overtaking a school bus. TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS
MUST STOP WHEN A STOPPED SCHOOL. BUS’ FLASHES RED LIGHTS
FRONT AND REAR. As a parent y6U should remind young
people of the need to follow -the school bus safety rules.
School bus drivers are well-trained and they are con-
scientious about their big rest Dgapility but they do
need the co-operation of ALE“itotorists.

Section 142 of the Motor. Vehicle Act places the
following requirements on a driver of a vehicle that is
approaching from either direction a stopped school bus
if the school bus indicates by a sign or flashing red
lights that it is stopped to receive or discharge school
children....

- THE DRIVER MUST REMAIN STOPPED UNTIL THE BUS
RESUMES MOTION, OR UNTIL THE BUS DRIVER SIGNALS

Failure to stop for a school bus carries a penalty
of three demerit points. More serious, though, is the
risk of hitting a student who is relying on the motorist
to stop.
