November 1990 The pecpie here have been very generous ta me, and have given me sa many items for aur house, plus vegetables, etc. We live ina farming community! I am involved in Church work on the Micmac Reserve of Indian Brook, and also in East Gore and in Musquodaboit. So I am kept quite busy. Although I have been very warmly welcomed back here, and have renewed many friendships, I still think very cften of all af my friends in Cassiar. I want to take this oppor-— tunity toa thank you for your ‘friendship, and all your kindness to me, while I lived among you. It was greatly appreciated. Ms. Martha Wallenborn and “Ms. Margaret Voss. Joan Habjan as mistress of ceremonies welcomed everyone and gave a brief light hearted his-— tory of Martha’s life in Cassiar. Father Charles then remark- ed, “even though he has anly known Martha since caming te this Parish, it would lack evident that she will be missed by the many people wha were here today." He wished her a long and blessed life. Jason Clark on behalf of the parish presented Martha with a levely wooden scroll plaque, as a token of appreciation far ail her years of service toa the parish. Sandy Crawford on behalf af the ladies, presented Martha with a bouquet of red roses and echoed theughts from all af us. We will miss her great baking, handcrafts and ficwers. We should have all been there ta take a few lessons. Martha arrived in Cassiar on Halloween night i966. She first worked at the Snack Bar and then for many years at the hospital. Until her retirement she was a housekeeper with Cassiar Mining. But where our parish will really miss her is the many years of volunteer work she has done for us. She has served on the parish council, was a choir member when we had a choir, did the laundry and ironing of all the altar cloths and linen accessories, organized and helped clean the church and rectory, assisted with the ladies annual tea, held hand— craft evenings in her home in preparation for sur annual ba-— zZaar, donated thousand of dollars through the years in handcrafts and baking and made the Advent Wreath for many years. y The list could go on, Martha you.will be missed for all these things and more because you are one of those rare pecple who took pride in a job well done. Martha is returning toa her home in Germany. We wish her a blessed and rich life in her retirement. Margaret Voss was born and raised in Cassiar except for the few years when she was out to schocl in Vancouver. Margaret donated a lot of time and energy tc our church projects as well. We will certainly miss her at our annual bazaar and ve wish her health and happiness in her new home in Smithers. ~*~ Cassiar Courier November 1990 Page 17 $2 2 OOOOH OHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHO® : C.C.C. @: i ®BOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHH HGH GH ®© © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © © Children’s Christmas Party All parents five years old with children or under MUST re- Gister their children at the Rec— reation Centre to ensure their child will receive a gift at the Cassiar Children's Christmas Party.
