With a swish of pink lace, kicking of heels and =
hearty applause Cassiar Concert Society’s Klon- PEEK—A—BOO
dike Night exploded into life. The rush to the
gambling halls of Cassiar on that fortuitous night
in early October had every element of adventure,
fantastic feats were performed, heroes were
made and fortunes won and lost. The spirit of
98 returned!

Skookum Tim, Swiftwater Tony, Frankie Tagish
Klondike Kate and Lipstick Lee were among the
many characters who held the tables of fortune
against .all odds. Encouraged by Can-Can girls,
the gamblers of Cassiar tried their luck at Over
and Under, Roulette and Black Jack and, if all
else failed to thrill, the Klondike Stew, complete
with gold nuggets, nourished the faint of heart
or those with emptied pockets.

Displaying qualities of "98, the gamblers at Cas-
siar were heard to shout the “‘sky’s the limit”
and greeted each of Anna’s stage productions
with increased fervor and enthusiasm. The call
of the wild was calmed and,. as the midnight
sun went down, weary fortune seekers wondered
over the “Connell Pass’’ to wait yet another year
to satisfy their gold fever.
