The town committee meeting: held on May 15th, 1972. To date no reply has been received from Dr. R. Wood with respect to the Veter- inary Clinic. It was deci- ded that the Committee would follow up the previous req- uest for his services, and inquire as to when he may be able to come, his require- ments, and other pertinent information in order that the townspeople could be notified. In regard to the possible site for the new Mortuary, after considerable discussion it was the general concensus of opinion that the location adjacent to the ambulance garage would still be the most logical site for the Mortuary for the obvious rea- sons of proximity .to both the hospital and ambulance. The Committee does not feel this location would have any dep-. ressing effects on the patie- nts and therefore, they main- tain that the best site sui- ted for the Morgue would be as outlined above. It was decided that another letter would be written to Mr. Caron in this regard. The committee was advised that there has been some concern expressed with res~ pect to the violation of the speed limit on Malozemoff Avenue through- out the School Zone, parti- cularily between the hours of 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. It was discussed and agreed upon that a letter be writ- ten to the R.C.M.P., with a carbon copy to Mr. Caron, requesting their co-operat- ion and assistance, perhaps aT A A TB Toataatwad Gr TOWN COMM Itt b4 a oy ea Yat & by a more frequent patrol and surveillance in this area. It was stated that two Company trucks are am- ong the offenders not abi- ding by the speed limit in this playground area. There have been several complaints respecting the poor showings of television: programs perhaps another petition will be taken up and forwarded to C.B.C. After considerable discus- sion, it was decided that the Committee would cir- culate a questionnaire in- quiring as to what the tow- nspeople would be most int- erested in, and if the res- ponse was not adequate, it was agreed further, that another petition would be taken up. It was suggested that boxes be put up in the Store and the Post Office to make returns easier. The subject of summer play- grounds was introduced. After considerable discuss- ion it was decided that Mr. McAndrew would approach the new Recreational Direct- or and enquire if the Comm- ittee could assist or sup- port him in any of the pro- grams he may be arranging for. Various discussions on Street lighting, fencing off playground areas, and side- walks were held and are to be looked into. With regard to setting up Town Council By-Laws, the Town Committee will draw up a set of By-Laws and for this Purpose a special meeting will be called. Dissolution of the Drum Corps I received a letter from the Cassiar Lions Club dated the 2nd of May that the Lions would no longer wish to spon- Sor.the Drum Corps. On May 15th, myself and the executive resigned from, and disbanded the Cassiar Lions Drum Corps. The same evening a new band was formed with different instrumenta- . tion, new music and new obje- ctives. The new organization is called CASSIAR JUNIOR BAND. The sponsors are a parents group with Executive as fol- lows: President - B. Plumb Vice President - B. Roe Rec. Secretary - E. McCallum Treasurer - W. Schneeberger Dir. & Quartermaster - K.Voss To this Executive I turned over 15 instruments, ‘access- ories, equipment and music, a bank account of $90 and no accounts payable. A further 8 instruments are owned by the children in the band. The Executive are in the process of establishing the by-laws and I am rewriting all of the old music and arranging a number of new pieces. I have taught over 30 chil- dren in the community how to play musical instruments and of the 20 now in the band there is 100% attendance. In a couple of months we should be able to put on our first performance with the new sound . Jack McCallum Bandmaster CASSTAR JUNIOR BAND
