The British Columbia Provincial Police is the oldest organized body of its kind in
Canada.

Each man is trained, disciplined, and instructed in all the ramifications of police
work until he is competent to serve at any time and anywhere as an independent
unit.

Apart from its principal cities, upon the B. C. Provincial Police rests the onus of
upholding the law in a territory of 362,000 square miles, from the 49th to the 60th
parallel, of patrolling its tremendous coastline, its 20,000 miles of highways, its whole
vast hinterland and boundaries.

It upholds the law with firmness, patience and humanity. It stands ready at any time
to advise, inform, and assist the citizen, hunter, angler, miner, and trapper; and
above all, the visitor, the stranger within our gates.”
