GREAT FRASER MIDDEN, VANCOUVER, B.C.

This Midden in former days covered an area of 4% acres, with a maximum
depth of over 15 feet; the site being now almost entirely occupied by the town of
Marpole. It probably dates back considerably over a thousand years and its period
of formation extended over many centuries. In addition to the excavation of many
bone, stone, and ivory implements and utensils, skulls have been recovered of a
markedly long-headed people, who preceded the existing broad-headed race of
native tribes.
