In the rush of Christmas Season,
many long-parted friends may consid-
er it meaningless to send to each
other greetings.....until it stops.
They then realize that even one
thought a year can keep a friendship
alive.

The Christmas Season is with us
again and we need not worry if we
will have a White one, especially
in the North. In Ontario we, for
some reason, always wondered if we
would have a Green or White one.

Every year | look back on the
past ones and remember some of the
incidents that happened.

1953 was my first Christmas
Cassiar and the first for turkey
delivery to the families....also a
baby was due in our house on the
23rd of the month. Thank Santa
Claus and all his little Reindeer,
we have never had another Christmas
like that one!

The day following the turkey
delivery, one of the Chinese from
the Cookhouse came to see me..Missy,
give me turkey...why, have you run
short of them? Me cookee you turkey.

put | am quite capable of cooking
iit myself. Note: My husband had
to do the job, independence never
qot me anywhere.
December 24th, no baby yet and
ill Corran, Office Manager, having
rdered flowers became very disgust-
d with me. He had them delivered
ith a note which read; Seeina you
ave not had that---baby, you may
s well have these----flowers before
the ----things die....Corran.

| wonder how many people remenr-
ber Heinz Beyer? Sometime during
an evenings revels, he knocked on
the door of Merrilianen's tent. The
door opened and Heinz fell in and
passed out. When he wakened, there
was a tree looking down at him. He
wasn't sure if he was on the ceiling
or on the floor. The tree had been
fastened to the ridgepole, as there
was no roomon the floor. All Heinz
could say was, ''What funny tradition:
s you Canadi ans have!!!

Everyone had open house during
the season and the welcome mat was
always out. We were just one big
happy family. We all bought a
supply of the Gov't liquids, but
we also had our brew cans filled
for those wno liked the stuff.

Who is that knocking at my docr?
...the door opens and what appears?
A man...in sky blue pyjamas (no
dressing guwn), house slippers on
bare feet. It is 30 degrees below,
A bottle of liquor in one hand and
two glasses in the other. (1:30 a.m.)
He ltooks all around and then says,
'Wheressss Nolan? | want my friend
he is my pal'', He had passed
his house, two houses back the way
he came. He wouldn't freeze, he
had his own special anti-freeze. He
also found his pal.

Every year the children had
their Christmas party with Santa
Claus in attendance, The children
always put on a very entertaining
program and then they received their
presents..!It was put on for many
years and then for some reason stop-~
ped. (Wish this could be revived).

A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY
NEW YEAR....to everyone, both far
and near.
