Cail for details. and the forty five min- utes missed by Mike Lau, Director of Sports and Clubs, and Amy Dash, Director at large, it was a day like any other. However, some- thing was definitely amiss during this meet- ing. Things first got heated as the issue of the Games Room was being discussed. It seems there was a problem with the Rugby club because they pur- chased a filing cabinet and placed it in the Games Room without first obtaining permis- sion from NUGSS. The argument grew quite heated as the board debated an appropriate response. Voices were raised and some profanity was used, but in the end the board managed to find a solution they all thought to be more or less fair. Later, Chris Reid, NUGSS treasurer, sug- gested that the board participate on some sort of common activity on the weekend, to foster a stronger sense of co- operation. All agreed, prompting apologies from certain members of the board regarding their behaviour. Just as things were winding down, Mike Lau and Amy Dash arrived at the meeting. Lau requested that the Board discuss the Sportsplex (he was sleeping when the issue was brought up); they agreed to discuss the issue. Lau was con- cerned with the lack of support NUGSS_ had shown for the construc- tion of a UNBC Sportplex. The discussion carried on as members of the board reviewed past policy proposals and discussions regarding the issue. Although not as heated as_ the Games Room discus- sion, the Sportplex issue was discussed for quite some time. There were some com- ments made of Lau’s absence at the last board meeting and his tardiness at the current one, as well as some comments of ineffective communication between Lau and NUGSS president Saleem Dossa. In the end it was decided that unofficial position of the board would be to vocally support the con- struction of a Student Union building. With regards to the Sportplex issue, very little has been resolved.
