Se Tra& Bake Sale Z An afternoon tea and bake sale was held in the basement of the Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 15th, 1973. It was cosponsored by the Roman Catholic Ladies Auxillary and the Cassiar Guides and Brownies. This event was very well attended by the ladies of Cassiar and even a few of the brave men. The ladies were most congenial and allowed the men to have coffee with them. Of course the baking disappeared quite rapidly as usual. The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of a much covetted Guiders Camping Badge and Licence to Mrs, Laura . Akey, Cassiars Guide Leader. Mrs. B. Roe, President of Guides Parent Body, had the honor of presenting Mrs. Akey with her award. The badge was earned last summer for Laura's efforts in organizing and operating the Guides Camp held at Chain Lakes. Mrs. Akey spent many hours of hard work and it is most appreciated. Congratulations to Mrs. Laura Akey! Vivian Cousins was the lucky winner of the Gingerbread house baked by Hilda Voss. SN Mexican Fiesta! @ On December 10-12 a celebration was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Father F. Triggs, O.M.I., from Watson Lake, was invited to Cassiar by the Parish Council. He was asked to speak on Our Lady for he has visited her shrine in Mexico City. During the three days we honored her in various ways, Such as, the rosary and a slide liturgy set to musc. Following the Mass on December 12th, we all gathered in the par- ish hall for a Mexican Fiesta. There was Mexican food of all varieties specially prepared by Mrs. Dudas, Mrs. Tiszolczi, and many others who gave so generously of their time. To complete the evening the children all expressed their excitement in trying to break the pinata which hung from the hall's ceiling. Mrs. Dudas did such a fantastic job in here efforts to "create" it that we're sure that it must have taken just as long for the children to break it! Once broken nothing could be seen except 8 lbs. of candy spilling all over the floor and squeals of many happy children in ecstacy at such a sight. We would like to thank everyone who made this such a great success! Joanie NOTICE: Rummage Sale - 2:00 p.m. January 26, 1974
