After a display of public speeches, great tal- ents and the judaes' personal testing of the cookies, Shar~ on Plumb was chosen as the queen with Lannetta Hansma as her princess. The present~ ation of the plaque, bouquets of flowers and small gifts followed to end the delight- ful afternoon. | Our deep thanks to the Mothers Group who put on @ Tea and Bake Sale in conjun- ction with the contest and also, the many Guides, Ran- gers and Brownies who helped decorate and serve the tea. It was a wonderful experience that will be continued in our community. a be al = a WS Bo” 8 On Saturday, May 6th, the Ladies Handicraft Club held an Exhibition and Sale of local handwork in the Centennial Arena Lounge. Articles knit- ted, smocked, crocheted, sewn and embroidered were displayed for half an hour before sale commenced. After refreshments a raffle was drawn by Mrs. N. Navin and the lucky winners of the croc~ heted bedspread and tablecloth were Mrs.T. Mathews and Mrs. Karen Wright, respectively. The Saie, Raffle and Tea were indeed a great. success and the proceeds will be dis- tributed as follows:- 1) Salvation Army - Canad- ian Cancer Society - The Canadian Red Cross Society, and Canadian Arthritis & ‘Rheumatism Society. 2) The Handicraft Club for purchase of equipment. - 3) Award to two grade 10 students (half to po to the student with highest marks and the other half to the student who has made the greatest progress over the past school year.)
