Vancouver Police said the attempted
slaying last November of ex-convict
William Semenick, 54, in Vancouver,
followed the pattern of the slaying in
September of Danny Brent.

Two suspects were picked up in the
abortive attempt on Semenick’s life,
but were released when Semenick re-
fused to give evidence. Police said
he was “afraid to talk, afraid for him-
self and his wife and children in
Victoria.”

Jacob Leanhard escaped death in
February when a booby-trap explo-
sion shattered his late model car,
hurling pieces of metal over neigh-
boring houses and shattering win-
dows of surrounding homes.
