INDATA LAKES MERCURY SHOWING This property is on the east side of Indata Lake about 1 mile from the south end, It may be reached by road from Fort St. James to the east end of Chuchi Lake’ (first Mation Lake), a distance of 75 miles, ‘and thonee an additional 40 miles by water up the Nation Lakes, The property comprises nine claims, staked in the summer of 1940 by D. and M. Roddacker and associates, The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company optioned the group in the autum of 1940, but after doing some. development work they dropped. the option in the autumn of 1941, ; Outerops indicate that these claims are underlain almost entirely by blue-grey, Permian limestone. Several small dykes of serpentine cut the limestone. What is believed to be the main break of the Pinchi fault zone occurs along the esstern boundary of the claims, It forms the contact with the Permisn limestone on the west and Upper Triassic sedi- mentary rocks on the east. A fault was observed on the east shore of Indate Lake on the Sunrise claim. The main cimnebar showing occurs along this fault, The fault strikes nearly north, dips to the west at about 70 degrees, and its zone of brecciation is 10 to 20 feet wide, It outcrops along the shore of the lake for approximately 1,000 fect, disappearing under 25 feet of boulder clay and gravel at the north end and into the lake at the south end. This fault is offset from a fow inches to 10 feet to the northeast along a series of cross faults striking north 59 cegrees east. At its north end the fault follows the contact.of a serpentine dyke with the limestone for 175 feet. The rocks along the fault have been altered and brecciated and the grey limestone has been chenged to a buff- coloured carbonate across a width of 30 fect. A chemicai analysis shows a mall increase in the silica, iron, and magnesium content, Tho serpentine dyké has been altered across its entire width of 15 fect to a reddish buff, ankeritic carbonate with minor amounts of cherty material and green mica. The cherty material occurs in irregular patches a few inches in diameter. Stringers of magnesite and of quartz 1/8 inch to 2 inches wide cut the altered dyke. The concentration of cinnabar in the surface showings is too low to make ore. i INDATA GROUP The Indata group of claims is east of the Indata Lake mercury showing. The group consists of six claims, Indata 1<6, and is ommed by the Consolidated Mining and Smelting’ Company. The claims may be reached by a = trail about j: mile long from the south end of Indata Lake,
