Over the Edge « March 14 DARCIE SMITH ARTS EDITOR On Saturday March 3rd, the popular CBC radio program North by Northwest graced the Purden Ski Village to record the show for Saturday March 10th, 2012. Host Sheryl MacKay entertained the audience of skiers and fans alike for several hours while various local performers starred as guests. The owners of Purden Ski Village won the opportunity to have the program recorded by calling in and donating to a charity, on CBC’s Food Bank Day. Performers of the event included: Pharis and Jason Romero (music), Gillian Wigmore (poetry), Isaac Smeele (music), Sarah de Leeuw (poetry), and a trio from Canadian Waste (music). Each musical act performed around three songs, and the poets each read about three of their pieces. The event was inspiring and unique, with little skiing figures seen through the window in the background, adding a lovely northern feel. North by Northwest has been on the air for the past ten years, and always features a variety of music, poetry, and anything arts related across British Col- umbia. The program airs weekends on CBC Radio One from 6am-9am. wei
