ACCIDENTS When an accident occurs, there are several rules. to follow to prevent further injury and facilitate removal to hospital. aes If the accident is serious, do not move the injured person unless there is immediate danger of further injury. The Safety Engineer, in conjunction with the med- ical staff, will determine whether it is necessary for the General Superintendent to be advised immedi- ately, in cases of night accidents. In cases of FATAL accidents, the workings and wreckage at the scene of the accident should not be disturbed except for the purpose of rescue work. This will enable easier investigation by the R.C.- M.P. and government inspectors as well as com- pany officials. In cases of minor injuries requiring hospital treat- ment, apply the first aid treatment indicated and have the patient transported to the hospital. FORESIGHT IS BETTER THAN NO SIGHT 16
