tC COQUALEETZA RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL A Music Department HIs year has been one of outstanding progress in musical education, a line which has become a special feature of Coqualeetza’s program. From a first hesitant and inadequate beginning the Music Department has made great strides in advancement, due not only to the increasing interest shown by the parents and pupils, but to the untiring efforts of the Principal and Miss Milsom. Besides the development of natural ability, the culturat value of music and music appreciation are goals towards which this department strives. Throughout the year the pupils have brightened social functions and lecture evenings, with musical selections. These occasions have served in bringing out latent talent and in inspiring confidence in the performers. D. MILSOM, Supervisor. G a, The following is a note from Mr. Frank Idle, F.R.A.M., which we are permitted to publish. From so noted a musician, it is keenly appreciated. (copy) Sardis, June 17, 1931. I have today visited Coqualeetza school, and I should like to record my appreciation of the high standard of the music as taught in the School. I have been particularly struck by the facility in sight-reading displayed by many of the music students. My best wishes are towards the School, its Principal and its Staff. FRANK IDLE.
