However the scouts did manage one camping trip to meet with the visit- ing Rangers on tour from Fort Nelson. After the camping trip, scout Wade Hansma went on tour through the Yukon and Alaska with them. The tour was lead.by Fraser Grey of Fort Nelson. Scout supervisors, Dick Hanna and Grant Smith chaper- oned the camp and activities while the Rangers visited. they served as chief cooks and bottle washers, and admirals of the fleet of: canoes. zk ek kK Re KR KK Husbands are a lot like fireplace fires-when left unattended, they go out. _ Strange disappearance In late July, from the 21st to the 24th, at least six dogs were reported miss- > ing from Cassiar. Rumors were heard that the dogs were collected ahd shot. Either rifle or tranquillizer guns were used, and the dogs kill- ed were found in various places. However, neither police or residents ‘have found traces of this. What has happened to these *dogs--guns* poison, wolves, theft? Where did they go? lf a dog is running loose in the town annoying anyone, all that is required is a call to the R.C.M.P. and the animal will be picked up and placed In the dog pound. Of course, there is the arqument concerning the MSS ~ Ce d v4 pound. However up until six (i al months aqo, there was no KX<_) building at all. Last winter aaa > there was a problem with an accumulation of doqs left behind when the owners moved from Cassiar. They ran aroun around in packs and finally - had to be collected and kill- ed. ' Some dog owners have men- tioned that they would not mind if their dog was found running loose and placed in the dog pound for 24 hours Providing they were notified of this. It has happened a couple of times so far, and a $10 charge was collected from the owner. If the doq pound is to be used efficiently, there must be improved’ facilities. Should both the doq-owners and non-dog-owners be respon- sible for this?
