Ohhhhhhhhh Scotty Oh By Dana Schwehr Vancouver ravers have known for quite some time about D’oh Boy’s Scotty Oh. They’ve known for two and a half years, in fact. Prince George discovered him on March 11, when he brought down the house at Prescription. Scotty started spinning when he was working in a Vancouver, and he was invit- ed to go to a Vancouver party. Eventually, he ended up liv- ing with someone who had his own set of tables, and started to practice his art. Scotty was first hooked on the sound of speed garage, which started as a fad in the UK. Not much speed garage is being made anymore, so he started on hard house and enced mainly by _ the Klubbheads, a group from the Netherlands, who helped cre- ate the hard klubb genre of music. “I heard a track by the Kiubbheads along time ago,” he says, “And it just blew me away. I’ve been hooked on it ever since.” Scotty Oh has a Friday night residency once or twice a month at Viva in Richmond, steel hard klubb. He has been influ- fabrication shop in which is put on by the Excerpt guys. He also helped put on the Shock Records Tour on February 26 with them. The event was in tents in Chilliwack due to ithe large amount of tickets i sold; there were about 3600 |people at that party. He has also spun at parties such as Summer Love, ‘99, on the Station Street stage, where the entertained a crowd of eight to nine thousand peo- ple. “It's something to | behold to be playing in front of that many people.” Double the power of your degree ~ Learn how to duates the knowledge and skills necessary | Continued on page 14 considerable human, physical Lag gi Qn and financial resources of the public sector. bere.
