By Carolynne Burkholder a» Editor in Chiei As Over the Edge is your university news- paper, run by students, we are always look- ing for writers to submit their work to be published in the newspaper. There are many opportunities available for volunteers to write articles and columns, do reviews, or draw comics for the newspaper. Think about issues that you feel passionate about. Chances are that some other students at UNBC will care about these things as well. For those interested in writing about uni- versity, local, national, and international news, news meetings are held at Over the Edge on Tuesdays at 1:30. Our News Editor, Kathleen DeVere always has potential story ideas available for writers. As well, if you have an idea about a news article, she is more than, willing to help you research and write about all news related items. As well, Over the Edge features an Arts and Entertainment section for those interest- ed in music, plays, books, and other artistic mediums. We often receive music and games to review, as well as free press passes to concerts. We also publish original poetry. If you are interested in getting involved in our Arts and Entertainment section, please talk to Celia Perrins, our Arts and Entertainment Editor. Over the Edge also publishes Three Lines Free, so if you' are involved in a club, pro- duction, or anything else, and would like some publicity, come to the Over the Edge Office and speak to one.of our editors . We are always on the look-out for new pho- tographers, production assistants, copy edi- tors, and members of the advertising sales team. Over the Edge is associated with the Canadian University Press, along with most other University newspapers in Canada. As a member of CUP, many of the articles we publish in our paper are read all over Canada and even published in other student newspapers. . UNBC’s Student Newspaper is published six times a semester, or twelve times a year. This is the first issue, so you still have eleven other chances to be involved with Over the Edge in as many capacities as you can fit into your agenda. There are many ways to get involved in -Over the Edge. You could send your sub- missions through -our webpage at web.unbe.ca/edge. Our phone number for those electronically challenged. is 960-5633. You could also drop by the office some time. We are located in the Wintergarden right next to the radio station. The deadline for submissions of articles to the Editors is 5:30pm on the day in question. Please keep in mind that anything that we receive after deadline will not be included in the newspaper. We try our best to print all articles the way they were submitted, however they will be edited for grammar and spelling and occa- sionally edited due to space constraints.
