As such, it is our mandate to report on issues of interest to students in the Northern Region. We encourage all students, both on the main and regional campuses to submit to Over the Edge. Over the Edge is part of the Canadian University Press network of papers, otherwise known as CUP. Cup is an organization that is entirely owned by member papers, and provides such services as a news wire and advertisements to Over the Edge. If you having been meaning to con- tribute to OTE, but just have not found the time, you have until March 19th to send us your articles! If you miss that deadline, you will have to wait until September 2012— and we all know you don’t want that to happen! This is a really exciting time of year. We have NUGSS election results to post, the semester is coming to an end, and graduation (for some of us) is approaching closer each day. If you are planning on getting a summer job or internship, now is the time March 14, 2012 - Over the Hdge The Editor's Edict, One more OTE issue left to go to send out your resumes! It may seem like summer is ages away, but when applying for summer jobs, the earlier the better. There are a limited number of jobs available for students (especially during a recession), and you want to get hired before they are all taken! This is not only the second last issue of the semester, it will also be the second last issue for three of our staff members. The age old plague of graduation has taken over OTE yet again. Both our Copy Editor and our Photo Editor will be leaving, in addition to myself! While my position has al- ready been filled internally, we will be looking to hire new Photo and Copy Editors. Here is the low down on what each position entails: The Photo Editor is responsible for editing any and all photographs taken by both the contributors as well as staff writers and editors. In addition to the editing duties, the Photo Editor is responsible for taking pictures and working in collaboration with OTE Editors on story assignments and event cover- age. The Photo Editor is also in charge of OTE’s back page feature “Cornered on Campus”, in which you will survey several students on different topics for each issue and take their picture. The Copy Editor is responsible for reading and editing all articles submitted to Over the Edge both from contributors and OTE staff. The Copy Editor must check each article for spelling and grammat- ical errors as well as stylistic ones. All articles must then be formatted properly before being sent off to the layout designer! If either of these positions sound as if they are a perfect fit for you, please send us a copy of your re- sume, and a cover letter. If you are applying for the Photo Editor position, please also include a sample of your photography. Send all applications to over- the-edge@unbe.ca. These positions will be open until September 2012, but if an awesome applica- tion comes across our desks before then, you will definitely be hired! Keep in mind, we are still searching for a Sports Editor — so, if you have a passion for sports, send us your resume and cover letter as soon as possible. © For just $29.95, walk in with your taxes, walk out with your refund.
